Who is this for?

This guide is for you if:

  • You’re teaching yourself pottery and want a clear overview of the whole process.

  • You feel like you’re learning in pieces and want everything explained in one place.

  • You’re unsure about clay types, firing, glazing or where to start.

  • You’re moving between hand building and wheel throwing and want stronger foundations.

  • You want to understand the “why” behind what you’re doing — not just copy techniques.

  • You’re serious about improving, even if you’re just starting out.

A Note from me

Hi, I’m Jayne — owner of The Sunshine Collective.

I teach hands-on pottery workshops and spend most days working with clay in the studio. Over time, I’ve seen how overwhelming it can feel when you’re learning on your own — trying to piece everything together and wondering if you’re doing it “right.”

This guide brings together the foundations I wish more self-taught potters had from the start.

Clay doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs patience, repetition, and a bit of guidance along the way.
