Earthen Convergence is inspired by the natural openings, crevices and voids found within coastal rock formations — spaces slowly shaped by water, weather and time.
The work explores the relationship between solid and empty space, and the way erosion can transform something seemingly permanent into something fluid and changing.
Hand-built in clay, the surface is left tactile and imperfect, reflecting the raw materiality of the landscapes that inform Papalia’s practice.
