Held in the Fold draws inspiration from the underwater movement of coral and seaweed — forms that bend, drift and respond continuously to the rhythm of the water.
The work explores movement, texture and the changing quality of light beneath the ocean’s surface. Where light catches, disappears and re-emerges across underwater forms, it creates an ever-changing interplay of highlight, shadow and depth.
Hand-built in black stoneware, the darker material absorbs and reflects light in subtle ways, bringing greater emphasis to shadow, texture and the movement held within the form.
